MOUNT SINAI - A police raid at a home in Mount Sinai yielded drugs, cash and weapons Thursday morning, authorities say.

Police say drugs, 10 assault rifles with high-capacity magazines, a handgun, a shotgun and instructions on how to make bombs were found in the home.

According to police, Edward and Sean Perkowski also had a host of neo-Nazi material.

During a news conference, Suffolk Police Commissioner Tim Sini called the situation "a public threat on multiple fronts."

"We have two individuals who clearly subscribe to a hateful, violent ideology," said Sini. "Today's search warrant might have prevented a deadly, violent incident like the one we recently saw in Orlando."

Police say the brothers also had marijuana, mushrooms and more than $40,000 in cash inside the home.

Edward Perkowski, 29, was charged with six counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana.

Sean Perkowski, 25, who also lives in the home, was charged with an outstanding bench warrant issued by the Town of Babylon.

The brothers will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
