EAST FARMINGDALE - Police are investigating thefts of pricey vases from St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale.

News 12 Long Island has learned that 38 bronze vases have been stolen from St. Charles in recent months, but only nine of the thefts were officially reported to the Suffolk Police Department. Another 150 vases made of the valuable metal have also been stolen from nearby Pinelawn Cemetery.

The Brooklyn Diocese, which owns St. Charles Cemetery, wouldn't comment when asked if insurance would cover the thefts.

As News 12 Long Island has reported, St. Charles Cemetery is the same cemetery where the body of an 88-year old woman was stolen from a mausoleum last August. Police are still investigating what happened to the remains.
