Police probe deadly shooting at Freeport auto repair shop

FREEPORT - Police are investigating the deadly shooting of a Freeport auto repair shop owner.

According to police, at around 10 p.m. last night they received a call from a man who said that he was shot inside Aimes Collision at 68 Bennington Ave. in Freeport.

Officers who arrived on the scene discovered the owner of the business, 42-year-old Christopher Mignone, of Baldwin, with several gunshot wounds to the chest.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say there were no signs of forced entry, and Aimes Collision is surrounded by surveillance cameras. Investigators say they have the videotape from the time of the shooting and are now analyzing it for clues.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
