PLAINVIEW - Police say a pharmacy on Old Country Road in Plainview was robbed earlier today by a man seeking oxycodone pills.

Authorities say the armed robbery occurred at the Island Care Pharmacy at around 5 p.m. and the man took off with 1,000-1,500 pills of oxycodone valued at $20 a piece. It is estimated that the amount of pills he took was worth $30,000.

Witnesses say the man was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and fled in a black car.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance video from the pharmacy. No arrests have been made yet.

The incident comes two months after four people were shot dead at a Medford pharmacy. Police say the alleged killer, David Laffer, was looking for painkillers when he entered Haven Pharmacy on June 19.
