Police probe 3 drive-by purse snatchings in Nassau

HICKSVILLE - Police are investigating three drive-by purse snatchings that happened minutes apart today in Nassau County.Investigators say at 1 p.m., a female suspect came out of a silver vehicle at Jerusalem Avenue and Old Country Road in Hicksville and snatched a handbag away from a woman, causing her to fall to the ground. About 15 minutes prior, police say a Chase bank employee was stepping out for lunch at Delco Plaza in Hicksville when a small black Nissan drove up to her. According to police, a female suspect in the passenger seat reached out and snatched the purse off the woman's shoulder.Authorities say the woman held on to the bag for a while and was dragged for about 8 feet. She wasn't seriously hurt. According to investigators, the same two suspects struck about 15 minutes earlier when a 65-year-old woman became the target of a purse snatching outside the BJ's store in Levittown.Police are investigating if today's incidents are related to similar robberies that happened in Massapequa Tuesday, in Bethpage Wednesday and in Seaford yesterday.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.Suffolk purse snatcher nabbed, purse snatched in NassauPolice warn Nassau women of purse snatchersPolice search for purse snatchers in Westbury
