Three officers are recovering from smoke inhalation after rescuing an Islip man from a burning house fire that he allegedly set.

Police say Peter Marren had barricaded himself inside the home after setting it on fire.

ISLIP - Three officers are recovering from smoke inhalation after rescuing an Islip man from a burning house fire that he allegedly set.

The incident happened on Main Street at around 1:30 a.m.

Police say Peter Marren had barricaded himself inside the home after setting it on fire. Responding officers say the 45-year-old Marren was armed with a knife and threatened to kill them.

After negotiating with the man, officers were able to get him out. He was arrested and is facing charges of arson and criminal contempt.
