Police: Naked man threatened shoppers with machete

According to police, Jose Amaya, of Bay Shore, barricaded himself in a tractor trailer he drove for a New Jersey company.

LAKE GROVE - Police say a naked man is accused of threatening Lake Grove shoppers with a machete. 

According to police, Jose Amaya, of Bay Shore, barricaded himself in a tractor trailer he drove for a New Jersey company. 

Officers arrived on the scene after people reported the man waving a 20-inch machete in the parking lot of the Lake Grove Costco at 1 p.m. yesterday. 

Police say when Amaya tried to leave the truck through a window, they were able to apprehend him. 

Amaya was taken for evaluation after being charged with menacing a police officer and drug possession. 

Amaya will be arraigned today.
