FREEPORT - Police say a Molotov cocktail explosion ignited a fire inside a Freeport home yesterday that nearly killed an elderly woman.

According to authorities, the bomb and arson squads got called to the Hampton Place home overnight following the explosion.

Police say the cocktail was tossed through the front window right next to where a 75-year-old woman named Theresa was sleeping. The victim, however, didn't wake up until police arrived.

Neighbors say the 75-year-old woman lives alone and works as a lunch lady at the Freeport public school system.

It's unclear who targeted the elderly woman and what motive was behind the attack. Neighbors, however, say there has been an ongoing dispute between the victim and another neighbor.

Tonight, the 75-year-old woman is staying in a nearby hotel.
