BRENTWOOD - Police are searching for a driver they say hit a man and left him to die in Brentwood.

According to authorities, a driver heading east on the Long Island Expressway service road who was passing under the Sagtikos State Parkway spotted the body and called 911.

Police haven?t disclosed when the fatal hit-and-run might have occurred and haven?t released the identity of the victim. The service road and on-ramp near the accident was shut down for hours as police tried to determine what happened and what kind of vehicle may have hit the victim.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
