WOODMERE - Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly tried to steal a 20-month-old baby from a sitter as she pushed the child in a stroller in Woodmere.
Craig Myczkowski, 44, is accused of approaching a 65-year-old sitter near a home and telling her that she was pushing a dead baby. The incident happened Monday afternoon on West Broadway.
According to police, Myczkowski followed her when the woman tried to get away and back inside the home.

Police say Myczkowski did break into the home, but the sitter locked herself inside the kitchen with the child.
The woman says Myczkowski screamed, "Give me the dead baby," but left with only the stroller a short time later. The woman and the baby were not hurt.
The stroller was found at The Pizza Place in Hewlett, where the suspect was seen on surveillance video.
Myczkowski didn't resurface until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when a woman found him half-naked on a psychotherapist's couch, News 12 is told.
Myczkowski has been charged with attempted unlawful imprisonment, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.
Police described Myczkowski as a "transient" with no known ties to the Woodmere area or the psychotherapist's office where he was found.
He was taken to a hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and will be arraigned at a later date.
