KINGS POINT - Police say a Kings Point woman was robbed in her own garage yesterday, where a burglar stole her wedding band.

The attack happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Ballentine Lane. Police say they believe someone followed the 66-year-old woman as she returned home from shopping.

"Someone had followed her in and put their hand over her mouth, and forcibly removed her ring," Kings Point Police Commissioner Jack Miller says.

Police say the woman was not harmed, but that the incident follows a string of home invasions in the Kings Point and Great Neck areas. Miller says police are reviewing surveillance video from residents and the store where the woman was shopping.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
