MASTIC BEACH - Police are investigating after four children found their parents dead in their home following a murder-suicide in Mastic Beach.

The incident happened on Woodside Drive yesterday afternoon.

Police say Wayne Street, 29, shot and killed his wife Jenni Lee and then turned the gun on himself. Authorities say two of the couple's children, a 2-year-old and a newborn, were inside during the murder-suicide.

The bodies were discovered yesterday when four of the couple’s six kids came home from school and could not get in.

Police say the children went to a local store and asked an adult for help after they were locked out of their residence. The adult went to the house, looked in the window and saw two people lying on the ground, police say.

Detectives are trying to figure out what caused Wayne Street to kill his wife and himself.
