LEVITTOWN - A mother from St. James was arrested after allegedly using drugs and passing out with her toddler in the car.

Police say Jessica Rosengart was semi-conscious and slumped over Monday afternoon with her 2 ½-year-old son in the back seat.

Rosengart allegedly had heroin and needles in her car while she was in the parking lot near the Tri-County Flea Market in Levittown.

Authorities say Rosengart violated a court order of protection by having unsupervised contact with her son. She has been ordered to stay away from the child.

Officials say the baby is OK, but suffered heat exhaustion.

Rosengart was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment and criminal contempt.
