HEMPSTEAD - Police responded to the scene in Hempstead last night after shots were fired, but no arrests have been made and no injuries were reported.

Hempstead's ShotSpotter system alerted police to the scene when multiple gunfshots were fired in front of a home on Princeton Street. A 911 call was also received, stating that a group of males may have run into a home on the street.

Police surrounded the home and then interviewed five occupants of the home. The homeowner gave police permission to search the home, in case potential victims or the gunman was inside as well. Nothing was found.

Police say a search of the area turned up five empty .380 caliber shell casings.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
