Police: Husband may have stabbed wife before being hit by car

NORTH BAY SHORE - Last night, a Suffolk man was hit and killed by a car, and a woman was stabbed in her home. Now, police say the two incidents may be connected.Suffolk Police responded to a call at around 8:45 p.m. yesterday, where they found that 47-year-old Daphne Beard had been stabbed inside her North Bay Shore home.Authorities say they're investigating whether her husband Carl Beard is responsible. State police say he was seen fleeing the home just after the stabbing, and was then fatally hit by a car while trying to cross the Sagtikos Parkway, which is right around the block from the crime scene.Neighbors say the couple had children together, and many say they haven't seen the husband around the house for a few weeks.
