Police help deliver baby on Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Wantagh

WANTAGH - Nassau police helped deliver a baby girl early this morning in Wantagh.

Chantelle LeGrand says she started having contractions this morning at around 1 a.m. She and her boyfriend, Gregory Mars, left their Jamaica, Queens apartment for Plainview Hospital, but got lost on the way.

Mars pulled over on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway near exit 1 and called 911. Responding officers worked with medical technicians to help deliver Alani Evelyn Mars, who was born 8 pounds and 20 inches.
