FREEPORT - A Freeport man is being held without bail for allegedly stabbing his young wife to death, then setting fire to her body in their Craig Avenue home. Police say 49-year-old Loventino Cassadean repeatedly stabbed 22-year-old Felicia Cassadean yesterday morning before setting their bed on fire. They say he then walked about 200 feet from his burning home before flagging down a passing police officer. Relatives of the victim came to the medical examiner's office today, where they positively identified her burned body. Homicide detectives believe they've discovered a motive. They say Loventino Cassadean was arrested back in April for a criminal sex act, and that an ongoing fight about the charges may have led to the murder and arson. Court records show he was accused of performing an inappropriate act with a minor. Felicia Cassadean was the mother of two boys, ages 2 and 5. Sources tell News 12 Long Island she may have been pregnant with another child when she was killed, and they say the couple was on the brink of being evicted from their home. Authorities say Cassadean has been charged with second-degree murder, though the charges could be upgraded.
