ROOSEVELT -  Police are investigating the connection between nine robberies of cab drivers since late last year.

Community leaders are asking for more police patrols to deal with the wave of crimes targeting cabbies, according to Newsday.

The most recent hold-up was Monday when a taxi driver was shot in the back in Roosevelt. The driver did survive. 

Some civic groups also want Nassau County to increase funding for police.
