FARMINGVILLE - A former Smithtown official and another man are facing drug charges stemming from a heroin bust in Farmingville last night, police say. According to officials, Aaron Morgan, of Mount Sinai, was caught selling heroin to 62-year-old Robert Bonerba, of Nesconset. Police say the transaction took place in the parking lot of the Kmart on North Ocean Avenue. In 2009, Bonerba was Smithtown's chief building inspector when he admitted to taking bribes from builders. He spent nearly two years behind bars for signing false building permits in exchange for cash and work on his own home. Morgan is charged with possession and criminal sale of a controlled substance for allegedly selling 50 bags of heroin to Bonerba. The former building inspector is facing drug possession charges and is due back in court in late March, officials say.
