HUNTINGTON - A Huntington Station man is dead after his car crashed into Huntington Harbor.

Police say Edward Franz, 29, was driving on West Shore Road last night when he lost control of his car and hit a guardrail. His car then went airborne and landed upside in six feet of water in Huntington Harbor.

Four Good Samaritans jumped in and broke one of the car's windows with a rock, managing to rescue a passenger. Franz was pulled out too, but later died at the hospital.

Police say the wet roads from last night's rain were a factor in the accident.
