WEST ISLIP - A Brightwaters man is facing DWI charges for allegedly hitting a person riding a bicycle Saturday night.

Police say Thomas Sitone was heading west in a pickup truck on Sunrise Highway service road in West Islip when he struck a woman on a bike near Manor Lane shortly after 10 p.m.

The 54-year-old woman, identified as Clemencia Mennella, suffered several broken bones and was hospitalized in serious condition.

Sitone, 43, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
