Police: Drunken driver kills off-duty NYPD officer in Massapequa

MASSAPEQUA - State police say an off-duty NYPD officer was killed by a drunken driver early this morning on the Southern State Parkway.

Police say 25-year-old officer Kevin Jessup, of Massapequa, was killed when 20-year-old Jonathan Lopez slammed his car into Jessup's car around 5:30 a.m. near the Bethpage State Parkway exit.

Jessup's passenger and a driver of a third vehicle involved in the incident were treated and released for their injuries.

Lopez is facing multiple charges including driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.
