Police chase in Commack ends in crash

COMMACK - A wild police chase through Commack ended in a crash this morning.

Police say they were called to the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood at around 9 a.m. They say a worker who wasn't on the schedule showed up and left behind a backpack with wires sticking out of it. When officers tried to stop the man from leaving, they say he tried to drive off and rammed into a police cruiser.

Authorities say the man then led police on a chase down Commack Road and eventually crashed into two other cars, causing his to flip.

Witnesses say the bomb squad blew up the bag.

At least three people were hurt.
