CENTRAL ISLIP - Police say five suspects have been arrested in connection with a string of robberies, including one at a Bay Shore pharmacy this week.

According to officials, 23-year-old Edwin Acosta-Martinez, 17-year-old Carlos Velasquez, 27-year-old Wilmer Velasquez-Cruiz, 23-year-old Mario Chincilla Rodriquez, and 16-year-old Jonathan Portillo started their spree at the end of last year, targeting a total of seven businesses.

Police say the suspects robbed the Health Mart Pharmacy at gunpoint in Bay Shore Tuesday night, getting away with $17,000 in cash.

Melvin Triunfel, the owner of Babylon Village Deli, says on Jan. 6, three of the suspects busted into his business wearing ski masks and gloves, pointed guns at him and stole $1,600.

Investigators say the men also robbed a restaurant and church in Brentwood, a deli in Central Islip, and a deli and jewelry store in Huntington Station.

The suspects are being held on cash bail ranging from $300,000 to $1.25 million.
