Police: Brentwood teen shot dead in backyard

BRENTWOOD - Police are searching for the suspect who shot and killed a Brentwood teenager in his backyard last night.

Police say 18-year-old Andrew Jones was shot in the head and killed on Lukens Avenue following an argument.

Officers responded to the scene shortly before midnight and administered first aid to Jones.

Jones was transported to Southside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police spent part of the day searching for the shooter by helicopter, on foot and with K-9 dogs. Detectives then continued to investigate going door to door, asking neighbors what they heard and saw.

Jones graduated from Brentwood High School in December. His friends say he was a loving teen who liked to play basketball and ride his skateboard.

So far, no arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
