MASTIC - ? Police are investigating the cause of a house fire that killed a Suffolk woman early this morning.

News 12 Long Island has learned that the husband tried to get his handicapped wife out of their burning home but could not.

According to officials, 56-year-old Laura Vitagliano was trapped inside her bedroom in a wheelchair on the second floor of her home on Neptune Avenue. Vitagliano was sick with MS.

Police say Laura's husband Anthony tried to get into the bedroom, but couldn't. Neither could Vitagliano?s son or brother who tried to save her.Suffolk police say arson and homicide squads are investigating this fire, trying to figure out exactly what caused it.
