HEMPSTEAD - Police say they have arrested a man who they believe is linked to a deadly shooting in Hempstead.

Stanley Cater, 47, was gunned down last week. Officials say they arrested Herber Guzman, 40, of East Meadow, as a suspect in the crime.

Police say Guzman took out a shot gun and fired, hitting Cater in the stomach. Guzman was pulled over by police on Wednesday and was connected to the murder after they found cocaine in his car.

The victim's family members say they believe drugs were the motive behind the murder, claiming Cater was an addict.

Guzman, who is being held without bail, has been charged with murder and will be back in court Monday, May 7.
