Police appreciation run to honor fallen officers

WESTBURY - ? Final preparations are under way for a police appreciation run in honor of two Long Island heroes.

The David Lerner Associates and the Greater Long Island Running Club are hosting the 20th Annual DLA Long Island Police Appreciation Run tonight at 7 p.m. at Eisenhower Park.

The run is to help raise money for the Police Crisis Fund, which helps support families of fallen officers.

This year?s run follows the tragic deaths of two local police officers, Michael J. Califano and Geoffrey J. Breitkopf.

Sine its inception, the fund has distributed over $250,000.

To make a donation to the Police Crisis Fund, send checks payable to the "GLIRC Police Crisis Fund" to The Greater Long Island Running Club, 101 Dupont Street- Suite 24, Plainview, NY 11803.
