MASTIC BEACH - Police say they have arrested four thieves from Calverton who stole frozen shrimp from Suffolk supermarkets nearly two dozen times.

Authorities say Joseph Elardo, 34, Sharmane Cromer, 34, James Donnellan, 33, and Nicole Johnson, 22, grabbed more than $2,400 worth of shrimp and sold it to a Chinese restaurant.

The group allegedly hit four Suffolk supermarkets 22 times since December to support heroin and crack habits.

Authorities say the suspects were getting $5 per bag of shrimp from the owner of Tai Yu Chinese Restaurant in Mastic Beach, who has been charged with possession of stolen property.

The Suffolk County Health Department also issued Tai Yu a sanitary code violation for an unapproved source of food.
