Off-duty MTA officer accidentally shoots son

According to police, the officer injured himself and his son at their residence in Smithtown around 7 p.m.

The boy was shot on Devon Lane near 7th Avenue last night.

SMITHTOWN - Police say an off-duty MTA police officer accidentally discharged his gun and injured his 3-year-old son last night.

According to police, the officer injured himself and his son at their residence in Smithtown around 7 p.m.

Both the toddler and the officer were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital and listed in stable condition.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
