FREEPORT - Police say three men were attacked within an hour in Freeport on Sunday night, and investigators are now trying to determine if the incidents are related.

The first incident happened at the intersection of Dutchess and Davis streets just before 11 p.m. Sunday, when police say a 51-year-old man was attacked and robbed by three men on bicycles. Twenty-five minutes later, less than two miles down the road, two men armed with a wooden stick attacked a 62-year-old man.

Police say a 34-year-old man was then stabbed four times by two armed men 25 minutes after the second attack, at the intersection of Sportsman and Southeast avenues. The stabbing victim is currently hospitalized in serious but stable condition, with a lacerated liver and a partially collapsed lung.

Police say a common link between the three attacks was that all three victims were walking alone. Investigators emphasize that the attacks were random and do not appear to be gang-related.
