WOODBURY - Police say two women escaped two attempted carjackings in Nassau County last night.

Cops say the first victim, identified as a 60-year-old woman, was attacked at a CVS Pharmacy last night in West Hempstead by a lone gunman but managed to escape by throwing her car into reverse and speeding away.

Officials say the second incident occurred at around 9 p.m. in Williston Park when a Hispanic man pointed a gun at a female victim and demanded her pocketbook and car. The woman escaped by fleeing to a nearby business, according to investigators.

Police say they aren't sure if the two attempted carjackings are connected and that no arrests have been made so far.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
