Police: 2 nabbed in string of Nassau tire rim thefts

SOUTH FARMINGDALE - Police say they have caught two suspects who are responsible for several tire rim thefts, the latest of which happened today in South Farmingdale.

Just back from vacation this morning, Juan Gomez says he discovered that his rims and tires were ripped off his 2005 Subaru that was parked in front of his home on Carmans Street.

However, the luck of the alleged thieves was short-lived. Detectives say Shane Regis, of Muttontown, and David Nam, of Queens, were arrested just a few minutes later.

Police say a local resident noticed the two men kneeling next to a car and suspected wrongdoing. The Good Samaritan then took down the suspects' license plate number, startling them, and quickly called police.

Gomez says the robbers dropped two of his tires on the road, and two others were found in their truck.

According to police, the duo is responsible for removing tires and rims from at least six other vehicles in the Syosset and Muttontown area.
