The crash happened on Union Avenue. Suffolk police say a Honda vehicle driven by 35-year-old Jankel Lenin Nolasco Lemus, of Brentwood, left the roadway near Maple Avenue and struck a pole at around 3:45 a.m.

Lemus was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lemus’ passenger, identified as 24-year-old Denis Humberto Delcid Cerrato, of Ronkonkoma, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
