Plow crews to drivers: Keep cars off streets during snowstorm

ISLIP - Highway crews are asking the public to help them keep the roads clear during this snowstorm by keeping their cars off the streets.

Town of Islip Supervisor Phil Nolan says despite some complaints from local residents, he thinks the town has done a fairly good job so far this winter clearing the roads and it's ready for the next major storm.

"Everyone's on deck and people are performing and working hard," Nolan says. "We're going to do that right through the last flake of this."

According to Nolan, there will be about 150 trucks helping clear the roads tonight and tomorrow. He says residents can do their part by getting their cars off the streets to let the snowplows pass.

Nolan adds that residents can also help out simply by being patient.
