WEST ISLIP - A new playground honoring one of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting was unveiled during a ceremony on West Islip Beach Sunday afternoon.

It was built in three days in remembrance of 6-year-old Madeleine Hsu, who was killed along with 19 other children and six educators during the Newtown, Conn. shooting.

The playground is one of 26 built around the Tri-State area for the Sandy Hook Victims. Organizers from Where Angels Play Foundation say the West Islip location was chosen by Madeleine's family who loved taking trips to Fire Island.

“I want people [to] come down and remember Madeleine…We want you to come down and be kids,” said Madeleine’s father, Eugene. “We want you to play. We want you to laugh and we want people to love one another.”

The playground was built by volunteers and with the help of donations.
