A plan to build a Wal-Mart in East Patchogue was rejected by the Brookhaven Town Board Monday.

Many residents tell News 12 Long Island they are relieved with the news. Neighbors who live near the proposed site on Hospital Road say they were worried about traffic and property values going down.

Local business owners were also concerned they would lose customers to the large store.
