RONKONKOMA - Suffolk officials moved a step closer today in their effort to redevelop the Ronkonkoma Hub.

Leaders from Suffolk County and Brookhaven and Islip towns joined LIRR officials in signing an agreement to form the Ronkonkoma Hub Regional Planning Alliance.

The Ronkonkoma Hub will feature 1,400 apartments with office and retail space.

Construction near the Ronkonkoma train station could take 10 years to complete.
