EAST MORICHES - A small plane safely touched down on Sunrise Highway in East Moriches Friday, a little more than a week after the same pilot safely landed the same plane in almost the same spot.

The plane landed on the eastbound side of the highway near exit 61. No one was injured in the incident and no roads needed to be closed.

The pilot, 75-year-old Frank Fierro, says he made the landing because he was having issues with a fuse in the airplane. His airplane is experimental, and he says he is trying to clock enough hours with it.

Fierro says this latest will not stop keeping him flying, but instead will keep him motivated.
