PLAINVIEW - Residents in Plainview got their first chance to examine and discuss plans for a massive housing development proposed for their area at a public meeting tonight. A developer has proposed turning 143 acres off of Round Swamp Road into a 900-unit, multi-family housing development. About 90 of the homes would be designated for seniors, and the plans also call for a shopping center and a bank. Some residents of Plainview and the Town of Oyster Bay, however, say they're not convinced it's a good idea. They've asked the developer to consider traffic, overcrowding and environmental concerns.
