WOODBURY - A 23-year-old pilot who made an emergency landing at a Queens beach reported engine trouble to a nearby air tower shortly before his descent.

Officials say the pilot took off from Republic Airport in Farmingdale last night and quickly ran into trouble. He informed the tower at Kennedy Airport that his engine was "running a teensy bit rough" around 7 p.m., and let them know he planned to make a precautionary landing.

The pilot safely landed the one-engine plane on the shore off Rockaway Beach at Shorefront Parkway and Beach 56th Street. Authorities say he and two other passengers were not injured.
