MANHATTAN - A commercial photographer who captured a series of haunting images during the Sept. 11 attacks has made them public for the first time.
Kevin McCormick shot the photos in the chaotic first hours after the Twin Towers collapsed. He says that during the past decade, he?s shared the images with only a handful of people, including retired NYPD Capt. Doug Greenwood, of Huntington.
The two friends say they decided that the 10-year anniversary would be a good time to take the images public and try to identify the men and women captured in them.
McCormick says he hopes the pictures will preserve in history the heroics on display on 9/11 and in the weeks that followed.
