Parents of fallen SEAL Michael Murphy 'couldn't be prouder'

PATCHOGUE - A warship bearing the name of Patchogue native and fallen Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy will be officially commissioned this weekend, and his parents say they couldn't be prouder. The Murphys got to sail aboard the state-of-the-art destroyer, the USS Michael Murphy today. Murphy was hunting a Taliban leader when his SEAL team was ambushed by more than 50 Taliban fighters. He ran into the line of fire to call a command center for help, and was killed alongside two fellow SEALS and 16 service members who tried to rescue them. Murphy?s parents say they'd give anything to have their son walk through the door again, but say they're honored by the ship and by the servicemen and women who are carrying on their son's spirit. To watch extended interviews with Murphy's family, go to Optimum TV Channel 612 and select the 'News 12 Extra' tab.Navy ship named after LI hero docked in NYC
