SMITHTOWN - Mick Foley will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at WrestleMania this year, and he made it there using pain and humor to connect with the fans.

“When you look like I did, which was the antithesis of what wrestling promoters were looking for in the 1980s, you had to have a way to connect with people,” Foley told News 12 Long Island’s Jamie Stuart.

Foley’s persona combined his ability to take huge bumps and make big laughs. After the height of his wrestling career, Foley used that same combination to become a champion of the literary world – reaching the No. 1 spot on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Foley is still involved in wrestling and is currently on a comedy tour. He also volunteers for RAINN – the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network.
