HUNTINGTON - The owner of Oheka Castle is in talks to turn the property over to PGA pro Jack Nicklaus to turn it into a golf course.

Members of the Cold Spring Country Club received a letter of intent highlighting the main points of the 99-year lease. Under the $20 million proposal, the golf course would be redesigned and the castle would be turned into a clubhouse, complete with locker rooms, dining facilities and a pro shop.

Oheka board members have already apparently agreed to some details of the deal from the Nicklaus-Gale Group. The board is still discussing the deal with Gary Melius, who currently owns Oheka Castle.

A project to build 190 condominiums at Oheka Castle was approved in 2012. Based on the letter received by Cold Spring Country Club members, the condos will still be built.
