Nassau police now say the scammers are calling to say you failed to show up for jury duty and must pay a fine or a relative is in trouble. (March 26, 2014 8:15 AM)

If you get a call that you missed jury duty, owe taxes or failed to pay your utilities you should hang up. Officials say it is a phone scam. 

News 12 Long Island has previously reported that in October scammers were asking people to pay utility bills with Green Dot card.
