MASTIC BEACH - A Suffolk County police officer saved a man from a heroin overdose in Mastic Beach this morning, authorities say.

Police say 7th Precinct officer Michael Alfieri responded to a 911 call at a home on Lacrosse Road.

He administered an intranasal anti-narcotic medication called Narcan to the unresponsive 27-year-old man, who is now recovering in the hospital.
