WOODBURY - It is the unofficial end of summer this weekend, and officials are warning Long Islanders to be careful on the water and roads.

Police across the area are stepping up patrols, including in Nassau where the aim is to keep the roads safe this Labor Day weekend.

Officials say to expect more DWI checkpoints.

Meanwhile, police are also cracking down on unsafe boating to prevent accidents in the water.
