LONG BEACH - Officials in Long Beach are taking extra precautions today to keep the 23rd annual 'Irish Day' under control. For more than two decades, the Ancient Order of Hibernians has raised money for charity by hosting St. Brendan's Day Parade, otherwise known as 'Irish Day.' In past years, the event has been mired by drunken displays and rowdy behavior. This year, city officials say they've deployed the entire Long Beach Police Department to keep crowds under control. The bars will also close at 1 a.m. tonight, three hours earlier than they normally would.Long Beach police step up patrols for 'Irish Day'
