MALVERNE - Police say an NYPD officer is facing charges for allegedly driving the wrong way while drunk on the Southern State Parkway early this morning and crashing into five other vehicles.

Investigators say Ronald Holmes, 48, of Elmont, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the parkway near exit 17 for Hempstead Avenue at around 1:45 a.m.

Holmes' Mazda MPV struck five other vehicles. One person was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with minor injuries, and three other people were treated at the scene of the accident.

Holmes was arrested and is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and several traffic violations, according to authorities.

Holmes, a 20-year veteran of the force, is due back in court on Tuesday.
